Ceiling Cleaning Part One

Sunday February 4, 6:00 P.M., Lloyds Recreation, the calm before the storm. Thank you to all the people who volunteered their time. It wasn't easy we had people in harnesses in the ceiling with blowers, we had people cleaning tiles from the underside, and of course people mopping, and mopping and mopping, not to mention the two hour clean up the rest of the building required once we were done in the ceiling. I hope those of you who lasted with me till 4:00 in the morning when I locked the door will be brave enough to return. We put in a good effort but only got about half done. I hope we can get the other half done on Sunday the 18th.

Martine Charbonneau arrived in Bogota, Colombia on Monday August 6th and will be meeting us in Cali on the 14th.

Peter Doucet and Morgane Echardour arrived in Cali late Fiday evening August the 10th. They are already at Team Canadas hotel and give it a thumbs up.

Sergio Almeralla arrived in Cali on Sunday August 12th.

Leah Kaluta, Alex D'Mello, Chris Nelson and Myself left Calgary at 7:45 A.M. Monday August 13th, we met up with Jesse Pauley in Houston Texas at 4:30 and all arrived in Cali together at about 11:00.

It is now 2:30 in the morning on Monday August 14 and we have just got settled in. Nothing so far as we know for tomorrow.

Tuesday August 14th, we ended up with a track practice from 6:00 P.M. - 7:30 P.M.. When we got to the track it was raining so we missed out on the first half hour but got a solid hour of skating in. The track is very smooth this year, much nicer than the one in Korea and everyone agreed that it would be fast racing. Tomorrow we have a track practice from 7:00 A.M. - 8:30 A.M. and a road practice from 6:00 P.M. - 7:30 P.M..

Wednesday August 15th, we started skating our second track practice at 7:00 A.M. and only a few laps in we got rain again. So we are now back at the hotel again waiting for our road practice tonight. Surprise surprise rain on the road, we showed up for our road practice at 6:00 P.M. and the road coarse was wet, we hung around and were able to skate about an hour before we had to leave, so long as we were dodging the puddles.

Thursday August 16th, 9:15 A.M and we are off to another road practice. The weather looks nice today so hopefully we can get through a full practice our second practice today is on the track at 2:00. I am finally back at the hotel we made it through two practices with no rain yay, and yes it was nice out today, too nice, I burnt my face. After the second practice all the athletes came back to the hotel and I took a taxi to a meeting at a different hotel. I arrived back at about 7:00

Friday August 17th, our skaters are heading to the track at 9:30 for our last practice from 10:00 - 11:30. I will not be able to attend as I will be at another 9:00 meeting. My meeting ended early enough to meet up with everyone at the track and we all took the bus back to the hotel together. We had a few hours off and went out for lunch. 3:30 the bus was back to take us to the track for opening ceremonies where we sat around for three hours before they took us out to the arena, it was okay though. Tomorrow the actual racing starts. 300m time trials only Alex and Martine and then 10,000m points eliminatin races in the evening.

Saturday August 18th we were at the track for fifteen and a half hours we just got back to the hotel after midnight. This is the least organized Worlds ever, I don't know what heats we are in or what our times or placements are . I don't have the energy to add info or pictures tonight but I will hopefully have time tomorrow.

Saturday August 18th, due to a tremendous lack of organization I do not have many of the results to post, below are the races that everyone is skating on each day but the results will have to wait.

2007 Canadian Inline Speed Skating Indoor and Outdoor Championships in Ottowa Ontario from Wednesday July 4th to Sunday July 8th

CRISC 2007 National Team

It is 2:00 A.M. on Wednesday July 4th, our flight was late and we just got to our hotel, we will be up tomorrow to shop for groceries. I will let you know how the floor is after practice.

Wednesday July 4, 8:00 P.M. - 10:00 P.M., Indoor Official Practice

We were actually able to get into the arena an hour early for the practice. Before anyone even put skates on I knew it would be a slow practice, there was a fine cement like dust covering the entire arena. There were lots of falls and wheel changes before I was able to convince them that it needed to be wet mopped, so we stayed 45 minutes after the practice to make sure the floor would be better for tomorrow. The up side to this is we will actually get racing tomorrow, the downside is that the wheel testing at practice was kind of a waste of time.

Thursday July 5, 8:00 A.M. - 4:00 P.M., Indoor Championships

Well even though we mopped the floor last night we didn't have great conditions today. I was really disappointed overall. Unfortunately the floor wasn't the worst part, that would be the officials. We did okay on our individual races and won every relay we entered. We finished up Indoor Nationals with 15 medals, 11 gold, 3 silver, and 1 bronze.

Friday July 6, 2:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M., Outdoor Official Practice

We have been to the outdoor track and even though we were only able to use 125 meters of the 200 meter track everyone was able to find wheels they were comfortable on. I hope all the cars on the other 75 meters are gone by tomorrow. Everyone feels more comfortable on the asphalt then they did on the cement indoors.

Saturday July 7, 8:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M., Outdoor Championships Day 1

We raced off and on all day due to the rain. We ended up not leaving the track until about 8:30.

Sunday July 8, 7:30 A.M. - 5:15 P.M. Outdoor Championships Day 2

Due to even more rain today we showed up on time and were told to come back two hours later for a decision on what would happen. When we returned we were told that due to the rain that we would not be racing today and that all the medals would be awarded based on the races from Saturday only. We finished up Outdoor Nationals with 12 medals, 8 gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze.

Late Monday evening August 28th after about 30 hours of travel and four flights later we are in Korea.

Tuesday Morning August 29th and we are up and getting ready to head to the stadium to pick up our ID passes. Our bus did not show up on time and so we did not get a chance to watch the Americans skate but we did get our ID Passes. After lunch we went out for a little sight seeing. Unfortunately our first practice scheduled for 7:30 tonight was rained out.

Wednesday August 30th we are starting slow, we went for lunch at the Outback Steak house and then went grocery shopping. Alex skated the fastest flying 200 for all of Team Canada in a 17.78 not super fast, but good enough for our first time on the track.

Thursday August 31st we got in our second practice and everyone dropped times. Not a super busy day but for some reason we are all super tired.
